Welcome to the Real Men Challenge!

We know you have a pair if you even clicked on this page. You go dude!!! You can click on the buttons below to begin the challenge, end the challenge and report on some of your activities during the challenge. The rest of the page explains the challenge for you.

You earn points for the main part of the challenge and a badge upon completion of the challenge.

Main Part of Challenge

For 1-3 months, a man pledges to:

  1. Compliment 5 women per week using compliments that have nothing to do with their physical bodies, motherhood or sexual abilities.

  2. Commit no violence toward women or men (military service or self defense of self or others is excluded from this part of the pledge)

  3. Not use the words bitch, cunt or any other derogatory words toward or about women and they will stop any man who does (or at least, not be present for additional commentary of this type once it has begun).

But you also get extra credit points for:

  1. Getting other men to take the challenge

    • We ask that question - how they found out about the challenge -  in the challenge sign-up process, so that is how we will know someone signed up because you mentioned it to them.

    • You could get a group of men and do it together. That could be a lot of fun as you share your experience in this challenge.

  2. Participating in the Real Men group by making comments, posting pictures or videos, etc.

    • You will need to become a member in order to participate due to the system functionality. Membership for Alabamians is free and if you aren't living in Alabama, and can't afford the membership fee, you can apply for a scholarship.

    • Points allotted may vary by how insightful, creative or genuine you are.

  3. Having a woman notice without you telling her you are doing this challenge, that something is different about you or compliments you for being so wonderful.

    • You can report these events using the extra credit button at the top. The drop-down will be #3 Mr. Wonderful.

  4. We have also been working on a documentary about men. If you get men to sign-up and do the interview, you get points for that.

    • Men can sign up using a link on the menu at the top of the website. You get some points for them completing the sign-up process and more points after they complete the interview.

    • They have to fill out a questionnaire and we will select them.

    • At this stage in production, we have interviewed mostly white men from the US. We would still interview such men, but their questionnaire would need to be a bit compelling. We mostly need men who are not white or not from the US, to present a world-wide, multi-ethnic, multi-racial perspective.

    • You can report this using the extra credit button. The drop-down will be #4 Documentary.

    • We will cross check your entry against the list of participating men to validate your entry and allot the right number of points.

    • We have had so much fun doing these interviews and we think the men have as well.

  5. Doing stuff men often don't do, like cleaning baseboards, the toilet, changing diapers.

    • You get points for doing these tasks. Again, report these with the extra button. Drop-down will be #5 Man Stuff

    • More points are allotted if you video tape yourself doing these types of tasks and even more points if you do it in a maid's outfit or something cute or sexy. And we do think a man in overhauls is sexy.  We want to make it clear that we really don't want to sexualize you like so many women have been their entire lives. But we think it's ok if the tables are turned every once in a while.

  6. If you help a woman in a workplace setting get promoted or a raise or bonus or assigned to lead an important project, or being a mentor, there are points for that.

    • We don't want to incent you to do this for a woman who hasn't earned it, but we see and have personally experienced many times where a woman deserved that raise or promotion, but didn't get it. We think if this challenge makes you more aware of this, more women will get what they deserve.

    • Buying products or services from women-owned businesses.

    • Can report using extra credit button. Drop-down will be #6 Helping Women

  7. If you have a super-awesome experience, one where you can feel the power of what you did, what the people involved experience and can send in a video, we will review that for super-extra credit.

    • Feels like we are at Hogwarts, doesn't it.

For all the items you report using the extra credit button, report them as you do them. You could wait until the end of your three months, but It's probably better to do these along the way, so you don't forget. You will be asked to give the dates you did them and describe what you did.

Finally, your rewards!!!

You will get 3 badges for the main challenge, one for each month. These will show up as part of your membership profile. You will get points for the challenge and all the extra credit activities. We will select the top few men - maybe 3-5 who will be deemed the ultimate "Real Men" and they will get special prizes. Although we know that any man who completes the main challenge is a Real Man and totally awesome!! And we may have other prizes and surprises along the way. We may interview certain men or play submitted videos on a show or on the website.

We hope you have a great time participating in this!!! And as we said before, the true badge is a badge of honor for making the world a better place.
